Setting up suppliers is one of the first things that should be done when you move into a new property. Before moving into your new home, you should contact all the suppliers and let them know of the date that you are moving into the property. The previous tenant has probably already informed their suppliers of their move, so it’s likely then that the supplier will send you a letter in the near future addressed to 'The Occupier'. This letter should provide any details you need about your suppliers.
On your PropertyLoop account you should find all your supplier details. However, you are able to research any plans or suppliers and can choose to use a new one instead.
Who Supplies My Electricity?
If you have just moved into a new property, you’ll need to find out who supplies your electric. Once again this can be found on your online PropertyLoop portal.
Alternatively, you can call your regional electricity distribution number; for London this is 0845 6015 467.
Who Supplies My Gas?
As well as electricity, you move in you’ll need to find out who supplies your gas. You can call the Meter Number Helpline on 0870 608 152 and find your MPRN number; this is a way of identifying the gas supply to the property. The MPRN number can be found on the gas bill but you are unlikely to have this if you have just moved in.
Thames Water
To inform Thames Water of your arrival and departure of your previous home you will need to fill out their online form; it’s really quick and easy. You can complete this form up to 28 days before you move and any time afterwards. It can be found here: https://my.thameswater.co.uk/dynamic/cps/rde/xchg/corp/hs.xsl/16041.htm
Broadband and TV
You’re going to want to get online and get your favourite television channels set up once you move in. As the previous tenants should have closed theirs down, you’ll need to research and find the best packages for your specific needs. There are a lot of deals, promotions and companies to choose from. The broadband and TV companies will be able to assist you with setup.
